About Me

The human face of this Web site is the redheaded dachshund aficionado above. I'm Katie, and I have loved older things - older books, older music, older illustrations - since I was a youngster, when I used to listen to everything from Mozart to Rachmaninoff, pore over Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies and Beatrix Potter's Complete Tales, and (quite obsessively) read the Little House and Anne of Green Gables series . When I was in college, I worked part-time in the George A. Smathers Library, archiving old newspapers, magazines, papers, and even an unpublished Zora Neale Hurston novel on microfiche. I must have been the slowest microfiche photographer ever on staff - I was constantly stopping to read old stories and ads or examine pictures and illustrations.

I love living in the digital age because it means that I can collect thousands of old documents and illustrations without turning my living space into something that would qualify me for my own episode of Hoarders. I hope that you will enjoy this collection of images that I have collected, created, or cleaned up over the years.
